Question 1:       Law

The Cardigan family has made a name for themselves in the sweater industry whereby they have designed sweaters for a variety of uses and for a wide target audience ranging from toddlers to business professionals. Cassandra, whom everyone calls Cassie, is the CEO of CARDWARE Inc., Camoni is the spokesperson for the sweater line, and Candie models the lines in the professional sphere. They often use their mother, Camille, as a business consultant for input about various new ideas and marketing because she was the manager and agent of her son’s glove company. Cora and Caley, Camille’s two youngest daughters from her second failed marriage to Bo Jenkins, are co-office managers of their headquarters located in Silkadonia.

Camille has developed a good network among those in the fashion industry, especially the seamstresses who have been hired by well-known celebrities. One day, Camille spoke with Sonya, the owner and Lead Seamstress for Shazam Clothing Industries. Shazam is a leading manufacturer of unique limited edition clothes in Silkadonia. Camille presented Sonya with her order to sew a limited number (500) of hot pink and black machine knitted sweaters with a matching knit hat. Each sweater was to have a number and Candie Cardigan’s signature on a label sewn onto the bottom right side of the sweater. The hats would have the same label with matching number to its sweater, but sewn on the right side of the turned up hat cuff. Sonya agreed to make each sweater and hat pair for $100. Camille’s plan was to sell each set for $300 thereby making a $200 profit per set. While discussing the type of yarn to be used, Sonya’s cell phone rang. Sonya pushed a piece of paper and a color palette towards Camille and whispered, “write the type of yarn you want used and exact dye lots” and I will begin work on this right away. Camille did as requested, but forgot to give Sonya the traditional 25 % down payment. The down payment has always been used to purchase the materials.

Sonya completed production of all 500 sweaters in record time and has presented Camille with an invoice for payment for the same. At the bottom of the invoice, the words, “Payment Due Upon Receipt” was written. Camille changed her mind about wanting the sweaters and hats, as she decided that the items would not be as profitable as originally anticipated. Sonya now comes to the law firm you work for, P. Strami, and Hammond, Attorneys at Law, and wants to know if she has any recourse. Attorney Strami hands you the following instructions and asks that you draft a memorandum to him incorporating your research.

Assignment: PowerPoint

Here is an opportunity to connect you current learning about revenues, expenses and adjusting entries with the profession’s commitment to ethics.

EC3: Russell Company is a pesticide manufacturer. Its sales declined greatly this year due to the passage of legislation outlawing the sale of several of Russell’s chemical pesticides. In the coming year, Russell will have environmentally safe and competitive chemicals to replace these discontinued products. Sales in the next year are expected to greatly exceed any prior years. The decline in sales and profits appears to be a one-year aberration. Even so, the company president fears a large dip in the current year’s profits. He believes that such a dip could cause a significant drop in the market price of Russell’s stock and make the company a takeover target.

To avoid this possibility, the company president calls in Zoe Baas, controller, to discuss this period’s year-end adjusting entries. He urges her to accrue every possible revenue and to defer as many expenses as possible. He says to Zoe, “We need the revenues this year, and next year can easily absorb expenses deferred from this year. We can’t let our stock price be hammered down!” Zoe didn’t get around to recording the adjusting entries until January 17, but she dated the entries December 31 as if they were recorded then. Zoe also made every effort to comply with the president’s request.

American Government

  1. What in your view is the most important policy issue facing the United States? Why is it important and which specific problems need to be solved?

  • Prison-based Gerrymandering is an important policy issue that the United States is facing. The Legal Defense & Educational Fund, Inc. (LDF, 2020) defines “Prison-based gerrymandering” as a practice whereby many states and local governments count incarcerated persons as residents of the areas where they are confined when election district lines are drawn and not where they are from. According to the Prison Policy Initiative (n.d.), the U.S. Census Bureau uses these counts to draw state and local legislative districts to enhance the weight of votes cast by people who live near prisons at the expense of everyone else in the state or county. A 2018 Philadelphia Inquirer analysis revealed out of more than 12,000 prisoners (25% of the state prison population) were from Philadelphia and at least 80% were housed in state prisons more than 100 miles from home. One such individual, R. Holbrook, was 16 years old when he was convicted and served 27 years of a life sentence in Greene County. He was released and returned home 3 years ago to Delaware County. Because he was counted in the 2010 Census as a resident of Greene County, he is still considered a Greene County resident today for purposes of apportionment (Melamed, 2020).

2)There are many policy issues the US is facing like Environmental, Education and Healthcare.  The policy in need of the most attention and urgency is the Immigration policy. Literally, kids are being ripped from their parents and thrown in cages.  This is bigger than policy and politics this is a humane issue. The current US immigration policy current immigration policy is called, The Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). The INA allows the United States to grant up to 675,000 permanent immigrant visas each year across various visa categories.  Immigrants migrate to the US for many reason weather it’s to join their families, to work, and to seek safety and refuge from war, violence, and natural disasters. In 2017 Trump tried to derail the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which has protected more than 800,000 undocumented immigrants from deportation brought to the country as children and granted them work permits. Literally, kids are being ripped from their parents and thrown in cages.  This is bigger than policy and politics this is a humane issue. There are still families that are separated from each other because of this. The U.S. has prided themselves on the land of the free and yet we  have many immigrants scared for their lives. One main problem is that refugee vetting takes about 2 years and workers without college degrees only get 5,000 green cards. Illegal immigrants cannot leave and reapply to return legally. Overall the immigration policies are old, outdated and not setup for a clear pathway to become a U.S. citizen. We must

streamline and simplify the process, and instantly stop putting immigrant families in these inhabitable jailsThe irony is incarcerated individuals do not have the right to vote making this issue important because the practice of prison-based gerrymandering artificially inflates the population count and distorts the democratic process along with the political influence of the districts where prisons are located. Consequently, the voting power of everyone living outside of those districts is weakened (Legal Defense & Educational Fund, Inc., 2020).

  1. If you were president and wanted to gather support for a new foreign policy initiative, which three U.S. foreign policy actors would you approach and why? What do you think is the most advantageous school of thought for the United States to follow in foreign policy in the future? Why?

  • I would approach Homeland Security to ensure that the initiative would not cause any threats to the nation. I would enlist the Senate Foreign Relations to attempt to get the Senate votes. I would, also, enlist support from the House Foreign Affairs to attempt for the House of Representatives votes. I believe that the most advantageous school of thought for the United States to follow in regards to foreign policy in the future is that we need foreign relations and allies, and we must show a united front when attempting to garner a productive relationship with foreign governments.

2)If I were president (feeling the grays growing in as I type! lol) and wanted to gather support for a new foreign policy initiative, I would have to go with the 3 who are most familiar and possibly most qualified. Which would be the secretaries of state, defense, and homeland security. With their experience, knowledge, training, and 1st hand decision making within foreign policy, me being new and looking to set a new initiative. I would like the backing of those I feel would be the most qualified to advise me in my success. Through readings, research of clarification, and videos provided, I’ve put together that there is four schools of thought. The one I would prefer to see moving forward to be followed would be isolationism. Why? In a nutshell, the United States has the tendency of being too “nosey” and/or involved. Isolationism does somewhat the opposite of that. Taking a fall back approach of being isolated and less involved.

Management

  1. How can the concepts learned in this course help you be successful in your personal life and professional life? Be specific.

1) Every single day we all use some type of management either at home or in a work related environment. Whether you’re the big boss or that janitor at your business no one goes through an entire day without managing someone or something. I have always been a VERY organized people at home, at work and in school. Sometimes I was very effective in my

concepts and sometimes I was not too effective in the way that I handle some things. It is so important to stay organized and plan things out in every aspect of your life. Not only does it prepare you and help with your readiness in those situations but it also prepares you for something to go wrong and alternative ways to handle a specific situation. This class has only improved my sense of management in large groups. The different concepts that can be used to implement change and how to account for things to not work out. Being a leader, a big part of this course in how to manage large groups. Being a coach I sometimes forget that I am the leader of that class and I do need to maintain control over those attending to avoid chaos. This class has served me well in showing the importance of being a leader and acting like it. The biggest take away from this class is self-management. Although I am already a very organized person everyone can always improve and that is something that I am continuously Hire an essay writer online 2020? https://homeworknest.com/ has all the answers. trying to do in my everyday life.

2) Management is defined as the process of dealing with or controlling things or people. It is the act that consists of general functions as planning, organizing, staffing, leading and controlling. Common sense dictates that without these principles of management being in place an organization would have trouble achieving its goals.  This is what I find in my own personal and professional life. Each one of these concepts have helped me achieve my goals. I am a natural planner, so reading this just encouraged me more in this area. Organizing was a little more challenging. For me, I used this to structure my work. I have been more organized in action and thought with how to plan my day and get the goals I set done. I do not staff a business, but I used to manage a staff and had to make all the schedules fit. This really ties in with planning and organizing when you are dealing with many employees. Controlling and maintaining have always been the hardest. This is imperative to a successful business. I let an employee get away with slacking off for a week and I got an earful of complaints. I had to talk to this employee and write him up. Inaction is just a decision to do nothing. I have learned not to let these negative things fester. It will come back to bite you

Do you see any issue with John staying on with the company as the CEO?  Do you feel John’s behavior may be determential to the company in the future?  Do you see John’s behavior as a problem?  If so, should anything be done to correct his behavior?

Question 16:     English

Be sure to read the Essay Project #2 link on the Menu.

Hopefully you’ve all had the chance to see the 1957 movie “Twelve Angry Men” (if not, watch it asap. I have it linked on the Menu). By the way, it was this film that influenced a very young Sonia Sotomayor to become a lawyer, and of course, she now serves on the Supreme Court!

These first two weeks, I want you all to do some research on the qualities of a critical thinker.  I would say to start within, write down whatever ones you already believe you know. Then go online. When you do go to Google (I’m just assuming!), don’t everyone just use the hit result; I want all of you to visit at least three sites, pull some points from each of them, make a master list.  Come up with at least seven qualities.  Then, using the movie-specifically, Juror #8 (Henry Fonda’s character, the one in the white suit who first voted “not guilty”)-discuss his character in a well-developed response paper of at least 200 words citing at least three characteristics you found that apply to him. Cite specific moments/lines from the movie.  Be sure to cite your sources at the end in MLA format. If anyone wants to take this further, consider writing a paragraph on Juror #3, the one who yells most of the time, the one with the estranged son; what are several ways in which he is NOT a critical thinker?

EN 102 Essay Project #2- Critical Thinking

The Assignment: By the end of the project, you should be able to identify, define and explain the characteristics of a critical thinker as well as the benefits to being one.  Finally, you will choose at least three of these characteristics and discuss in a well-developed essay the ways you shall utilize them.

Why We Do This: As a subject, Critical Thinking is thinking about thinking, learning how we can become more logical, analytical and skilled at communicating while also being passionate and curious, among other traits. As a discipline, Critical Thinking is a way of life, a practice that helps people to navigate a fast-paced and increasingly complex world. This project itself is an exercise in critical thinking. In fact, one will find the phrase occurring in the majority of college syllabi as well as many job descriptions; learning and writing about and mastering this subject prepares a person for a productive, successful and meaningful adult life.

How We Do This: Over the next four weeks, you will perform research into the essential characteristics of a critical thinker, the benefits of its practice and well-known examples of critical thinkers. We will share our findings in class as well as view some online resources, including a classic movie, Twelve Angry Men (1957). At the end of the research period, you will have one week to work on a rough draft of the essay topic, revise and edit and then compose the final version.

Week One: Twelve Angry Men + a general discussion of Critical Thinking

Week Two: the characteristics of a Critical Thinker

Week Three: the benefits of critical thinking

Week Four: examples of critical thinkers

Week Five: writing the essay

In this project you will identify legal forms of property.  To do so you will:

  1. Describe and identify real, personal and intellectual properties
  2.       Explain the historical changes in the legal definition of property.
  3.       Investigate the historical changes regarding persons who could own property.

PROJECT ASSIGNMENT

Using the references in the module, and any others you decide to choose, create a presentation in any form you choose (e.g. PowerPoint, Video etc.) that clearly demonstrates you have met the outcomes of the project requirements identified above.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Complete the Project Assignment – use PowerPoint or a similar program
  2. Name it appropriately.
  3. Submit it to the Dropbox.

Assignment/PowerPoint Tips

Presentations on PowerPoint can be an engaging or boring.  Please looks at the following tips to improve your PowerPoints Presentations.  A presentation is much different than a report or essay.  Please follow the guidelines laid out in the following websites.

8 Simple Rules for Stronger PowerPoint Presentations

Simple rules for better PowerPoint presentations

The 4 Most Important PowerPoint RULES for Successful Presentations

Images

This is a presentation so include images or graphics or multimedia: Relevant images can illustrate what you are talking about on the slide. The most “compelling” images/graphics would be ones that are evidence supporting your arguments. Use images/graphics as you would any source or written example/evidence. Include relevant image captions. And cite your image sources in a references section.

Support Your Arguments:

In all assignments, you will also be expected to support your arguments with evidence or examples.

Examples demonstrate understanding. Examples that are not in the course content demonstrate you can apply concepts to new situations/issues/topics, and therefore an even higher level of understanding, highlight these examples by bolding that text.

For example, you could cite specific legal cases or laws or how laws have been applied in specific circumstances.

Watch the following video animations, set in a classroom courtroom, to understand supporting evidence.

Claims and Support (from McGraw-Hill Education):

Claims and Supporting Evidence – 2:

You don’t need to click this

If you are still unsure about the skills expectation of supporting your opinions, see the Supporting Evidence page in the Student Tools section of content for more resources that will help you to better understand how you can do this in your presentations.

Avoid Logical Fallacies in Your Arguments

See the Logical Fallacies page in the Student Tools section of content for the types of arguments to avoid in your writing. Logical fallacies are false logic. For example, an Ad Hominum argument attacks the person making the argument instead of the merit of the argument.

Courtroom judges will not accept logical fallacies in legal cases. Similarly, they are not accepted as valid arguments in academic writing. Logical fallacies are the opposite of critical thinking and logical arguments.

MODULE 2 ASSIGNMENT: RESEARCH AND REPORT

OVERVIEW

As you have seen throughout this module, the use of vaccines is a point of debate. Your task is to present to a parent of one of your young patients an overview of the different systems, and your personal argument either for or against vaccines.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Prepare a 500-minimum word report for a parent. In your report, provide the following:

A summary of the three different systems covered in this module (i.e., vascular or circulatory, lymphatic, and immune systems)

Address how blood vessels and lymphatic organs work together, and with other systems, to maintain homeostasis.

Address how the immune system maintains homeostasis by protecting the body.

  1. Describe the following: (Feel free to create a diagram if that is helpful.)
The main blood vessels that form the systemic, pulmonary, and portal circulation. Include the function of each one.

The main arteries that supply blood to the head, trunk, and upper and lower limbs

The two main veins of the body. Include the parts of the body that drain blood on each one.

Trace or describe the pathway of the lymph from the left foot to the left subclavian artery.

Make a note of the differences between the T and B lymphocytes. Identify the location of the spleen and tonsils, and include their functions.

  1. Your paper should be formatted as a proper research paper with an introduction and conclusion. Do not simply follow the bullet points above, but really think about what you have learned and how that relates to other material we have covered and knowledge you have from other courses you may have taken.
  2. Outline your recommendation either for or against the use of vaccines. Be sure to consider these questions: What is the difference between innate and acquired, passive and active, and natural and artificial immunities? How does the knowledge of them help you explain the physiological foundation of vaccination?
  3. All references must be cited using APA Style format. Please refer to the CCCOnline APA Citation Toolkit.
  1. Remember, use what you have learned from this module to complete the assignment. In some cases, you may need to conduct additional research. You can use the library research guides posted for you in the Grading and Evaluation section of the Syllabus module.
  2. Submit your paper to the Module 2 Assignment: Research and Report assignment folder.

Question 24:     Business

Demographics can include population, age, gender, race, ethnicity, veteran status, foreign born persons, housing, family and living arrangements, computer and Internet use, education, health, economy, transportation, income and poverty, businesses, or geography. You are a program manager tasked with learning more about your population’s demographics. Understanding these characteristics can result in developing or revising programs to more effectively target your community’s unique needs. For example, if you were to determine that unemployment and homelessness is higher in your area for those aged under 30 years old, you could more effectively target interventions and recruit partners tailored to that population (which may be different interventions and partners if your community saw increased homelessness in those aged 60 and over). Your first objective is to examine your local data and compare it to your state and country. Go to the U.S. Census website located in this week’s readings list. . This website allows for a city, town, state, or county to be entered for data generation. Compare data of your local community (city or county) to data in your 1) state, and 2) country. If you are examining a country other than the United States, feel free to use another website for that information. Explore the different factors, topics, and ways to generate data (table, charts, etc.). Select any five of the 18 factors shown: population, age, gender, race, ethnicity, veteran status, foreign born persons, housing, family and living arrangements, computer and internet use, education, health, economy, transportation, income and poverty, businesses or geography. Length: 5-pages not including title or reference pages (tables, maps, charts, or other illustration that can be easily generated from the Census website) Develop a comparative snapshot of your community. Compare and contrast the data by answering the following questions: What do the factors you selected tell you about your community as compared to your state and country? What are two to three main problems your community might be facing? Provide descriptive statistics to support your choices. Why do you think your community may be facing these problems? Consider your population, historical happenings, changes in major employers, or other events. How might this census data be used to help in program development to combat these problems? References: Include a minimum of 5 scholarly resources. You may use additional information from library sources or the Internet and be certain to cite these sources.

Question 25:     Business

There are many reasons why a company should pay attention to their reputation as it relates to their future vendor relations and product supply costs and availability. Complete the following: Discuss why it is important for organizations to manage their reputation by answering the following questions: What impact could a poor quality product have on a company? How does reputation help a company to be more competitive? How do you think a company can improve their vendor and customer relations? Summarize 3 examples of what goes into the reputation of a company.

Question 26:     Business

Inferential data analysis uses statistical tests to determine whether a pattern you observe is due to chance or due to the program results. Research often uses inferential analysis to see if there is a relationship between an intervention and an outcome, as well as the strength of that relationship. (1) In your role as program manager, you are interested in learning more about what types of inferential data analysis can be used for public administration program evaluation. From the Northcentral Library, locate three articles that utilized inferential data analysis in their studies. Suggested public administration-related publications include but are not limited to Administrative Science Quarterly, Public Administration Review, Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory, Governance, and American Review of Public Administration. From the three articles, develop a literature review summary that evaluates the three studies’ use of inferential data analysis. A key purpose is to understand that data within the field of public administration can be evaluated by diverse inferential data analysis techniques. Length: 3-pages, not including title or reference pages A 1-page bulleted summary for each article (problem, purpose, RQs, hypotheses, research design, inferential statistics used, and findings) For each article, were the selected inferential statistics appropriate? Why or why not? For each article, what other statistical tests might have been used, and how might results be different? References: Include a minimum of 5 scholarly resources. In addition to the three journal articles evaluated, include at least two additional scholarly resources in your references to support your data analysis discussion.

Question 27:     Sociology

Approximately 400 words and must include discussion of an additional article. In your reply focus on one or two of the concepts or theories mentioned in the reading summary. Focus on the following types of questions in your reply: how does the contemporary article update the original version of the concept or theory? Does the article show the original concept or theory to be more or less relevant to contemporary sociology? Are there technological changes in our postmodern society which make the theory or concept more or less relevant? You won’t may also express your opinions about the article and any issues that you see were not covered adequately, or that you might disagree with.

Webber focuses on domination and legitimacy and he does this by offering a sociological perspective. Weber defines the three “ideal types as rational or legal authority, traditional authority, and charismatic authority. Weber goes on and defines legitimacy as the “the belief system on which valid commands issuing from authority figures are based”. He explains it supplying the justifications for demanding obedience and practice domination rightfully over others. When defining domination it was explained as a group of people obeying a specific command.

The three pure types of authority are rational grounds, traditional grounds and, Charismatic grounds.

CONCEPTS

1) Rational Grounds-Obedience is owed to the legally established impersonal order. This looks to be established by an agreement which means laws are created and passed by the legislatures to guide the citizens of a country. B) This language is different from everyday language because the author uses words that could be mainly understood by those who have invested their time in the authority field. The other side of this is that when we hear legal authority in everyday language we automatically think of the police and the court system. The police departments are public agencies whose purposes are to enforce the criminal law, maintaining order, and providing security services whereas courts operate to seek justice and discover the truth which is very broad and generalized compared to this definition by weber. C) An example that the author uses to explain sociological significance is when he states “He may be part of an association, of a community, of a church, or a citizen of a state”.

2) Traditional grounds- A) authority will be called tradition; if the legitimacy is claimed for it and believed in under the sanctity of age-old rules and powers. B) This language differs from the use in everyday language because, in the traditional authority, the King had the divine right and authority. So, this would be in place during the medieval period under feudalism. There are more tangible and realistic examples of authority in traditional society. For example, the authority and powers could be based on religious institutions such as the Catholic Church. However, in our societies, teachers have authority over students and parents have authority over children, however, it is not an absolute authority like the author mentions that God has over people. Since the era of enlightenment, most of the nations have moderated their traditional authority making them inactive. C) The author mentions “The exercise of power is oriented toward the consideration of how far master and staff can join the view of subjects’ traditional compliance without arousing their resistance. Basically with resistance comes in abuse and overreach of authority. An example here would be a policeman going too far when arresting a citizen and causing harm to the citizen when they did not deserve it, causing public backlash.

3) Charismatic grounds- The term charisma will be applied to a certain quality of an individual personality under which he is considered extraordinary and treated as endowed with the supernatural, superhuman or at least specifically exceptional powers or qualities. B) This definition differs from our use in society because charisma in society is shown through having a big personality, being good in public with large crowds, and having an “IT” factor. For instance, Charismatic authorities arose to overthrow the traditional authority. They claimed to have received a message from God or the supernatural and they could come up with new laws and overturn the existing ones. A perfect example is Jesus because he claimed he could perform miracles such as healings. However, the modern charismatic aspects can be referred to like people who brought some revolution like Mahatma Gandhi, or Martin Luther King who were able to through their charismatic personalities and bring about revolutionary changes like the overthrowing of the British government in India and the establishment of civil rights for African-Americans. The charismatic authority was characterized by the “routinization of charisma” where leadership was transferred to traditional or rational-legal leadership.

This differs from the books’ definition because people in society don’t have superpowers. “These are such as are not accessible to the ordinary person, but are regarded as of divine origin or as exemplary, and based on them the individual concerned is treated as a “Leader”. Even though in society we see charismatic people as leaders, our view differs from this definition because we do not believe that these are divine superpowers, we believe they are just personality traits.

The two theoretical statements that appeared in the essay were

THEORIES

  1. Legitimacy theory

Weber propounded that if accepted by the populace, both traditional and charismatic authority can be legitimate. Marx suggested that a dictatorship of the proletariat would be legitimate as it was acting in the best interests of the masses; likewise, dictators claim to uphold common good without popular approval. Traditional monarchs also claimed to be adhering to the divine right as the best form to determine the common good. Legitimacy usually operates under the established rules and power is exercised through the established constitutional laws thus, this adheres to the widely held beliefs and values of a society. Individuals and organizations strive to operate within the set of rules and beliefs in a community, otherwise their legitimacy would be at stake. Legitimacy theory asserts that entities focus on limiting themselves towards the boundaries of norms in the societies they operate. This is a empirical generalization. I say that because he has no numerical facts to back his claim.

  1. Domination theory

In the theory of domination, Weber assumed that those who have been exposing to domination have some elements of “beliefs” in the system and those who obeyed orders did it voluntarily. But he highlighted some aspects that couldn’t make domination to operate effectively; they include personal interest, customs and idealistic belief especially by those under the authority.

In complex societies, domination is practiced through staff and not like ordinary people (or the masses). The staff must have a positive and affirmative belief in the myths that justify the authority. Generally, the theory of domination requires recognition for it to be recognized and have powers. Empirical finding flaws the social dominance theory, thanks to the inconsistencies noted in the behavioral asymmetry. The behavior of sub-groups in the society within a community correlates with social identity theory. This theory is also like legitimacy an empirical generalization due to the simple fact that it is simply an observation

I have chosen to reply to the summary of The types of legitimate Domination (1925) by Max Weber and particularly to the use of the concept “domination and legitimacy” while examining Weber’s analysis of “Charismatic Authority” as discussed in the student summary and in the original essay itself. I will be using an article from The Chronicle of Higher Education entitled “A ‘Historian of Charisma’ Explains Why Oprah Could Be President,” authored by Steve Kolowich to elaborate on Weber’s work.

Weber discusses the concept of “Domination and Legitimacy” and furthers this topic by elaborating on the three pure types of authority. This includes legal authority on Rational grounds, Traditional grounds, and Charismatic grounds. Rational grounds is synonymous with the notion of legal authority which is largely tied to legal legitimacy in which power is vested in a system that puts power into laws. Furthermore, Weber discusses traditional grounds which he de defines as “resting on an established belief in the sanctity immemorial traditions” (217). Thus, this form of power is accepted because it is tradition and has been practiced for a long period of time. Additionally, Weber describes charismatic grounds which he defines as “resting on devotion to the exceptional sanctity, heroism or exemplary character of an individual (217).

Moreover, The Chronicle of Higher Education entitled “A ‘Historian of Charisma’ Explains Why Oprah Could Be President, emphasizes the idea of Charismatic authority. The historian analyzes Oprah’s chances of being a highly favored presidential candidate due to her charisma. Kolowich furthers this idea by explaining that Oprah’s charisma has caused her extremely high following and success which makes her a strong leader. Weber’s idea of Charismatic Authority coalligns with Kolowich as Weber states that the term ‘charisma’ applies to “an individual personality by virtue that is considered extraordinary” which Kolowich believes Oprah possesses (220). However, Kolowich furthers the meaning of Charismatic authority when he labels Oprah as one since she transcends the tight description of a charismatic leader. Weber mentions that the followers of a charismatic leader “tend to live in a communistic relationship with their leader”,  which Kolowich says she (Oprah) has managed to transcend (221). Furthermore, according to Weber, Oprah’s actions of being known to give out lavish gifts to her followers allows her to be labeled as a charismatic authority. However, according to Weber, as soon as she is no longer able to provide for her followers, like most charismatic leaders, she will have her “fall from grace” (216).

Question 28:              Finance

Instruction

I need part 4 done (The essay part) and its based off of the information I already wrote in part 3

Part 3. Classify, calculate, and assess a) Liquidity and Turnover management of Current Assets and Liabilities, b) Profitability, and c) Market Value ratios. Please note outcomes as a multiple, percent, or dollar value.

  1. Liquidity and Turnover management of Current Assets and Liabilities

In this section, properly classify which of the above (from Part 2) are the liquidity and turnover ratios. Then, using the data from the Income Statement and Balance Sheet, provide the correct calculation of these four liquidity and turnover ratios and an assessment of the company’s ability to maintain liquidity and the management of current assets and current liabilities.

Include the proper assessment of outcomes as positive or negative trends when all four-ratio outcomes are factored as a group.

Liquidity Ratio’s are the current ratio and the quick ratio. The current ratio for 2015 =. 9695, and the quick ratio for 2015 =. 2779. The turnover ratios are accounts receivable turnover and accounts payable turnover. The AR turnover =72.1889 times and the AP turnover = 6.3078 times. The current ratio of .96 shows that the amount of debt with respect to assets is higher and therefore the company may face difficulty in repaying short-term debt obligations, the same can be said for the company’s quick ratio. The company has shown an efficient credit collection system due to its AR turnover.

  1. Profitability

Given this information below, provide an assessment of the company’s ability to maintain if not improve profitability based on the amounts of Equity, Assets, and levels of profits from Sales. Include the proper assessment of outcomes as positive or negative trends when all four-ratio outcomes are factored as a group.

The profitability ratios are return on equity, return on assets, operating profit margin, and net profit. ROE = 20.03%, ROA = 7.9827%, OPM = 5.5902%, and Net Profit = 3.357%. The company’s ROE seems to be driven by financial leverage, its net profit margin is low and its asset turnover ratio is also not very significant. If in any year, the company has to face an unexpected economic scenario, its ROE can be significantly impacted in a negative way.

  1. Market Value

In this section, use the price per share data, the Income Statement and Balance Sheet to provide the correct calculation these two Market Value ratios; Earnings per Share (EPS) and Price to Earnings (P/E) ratio.

EPS = $1.1645 and P/E = 8.5874 times.

Given the changes of EPS from one year to the next, what is your assessment of the company’s net income theoretically available for payment for investors holding common stock? As an investor to what extent are you more or less confident of the company’s ability to add value to your ownership position?

The company’s net income decreased from one year to the next meaning lower EPS. As an investor, I’m less confident of the company’s ability to add value due to the low and decreasing figures. This shows that the company will have less ability to repay investors holding common stock.

Based on the company’s P/E ratio changes from one year to the next what might this tell us about either investor sentiments of future profits, or stock price/value given the ability to generate income at a set price?

The P/E Ratio also decreased from one year to the next. This might let us know that future profits will be lower and that the ability to generate income might become more difficult for this firm.

Part 4. Overall Analysis

In this section, you will compose an analytical essay in a minimum of 350 words. Based on the above, provide a proper assessment of the company’s most significant negative trend and what corrective actions can be taken to improve results. You should search the Library, your textbook, and the Internet using a variety of criteria to find academic sources that will support your assessment of the trends and actions that could be taken.

Please address items 1 and 2 as the preliminary portion of your assignment.  And build on that commentary as the body of your overall assessment.

Question 31:     Law

Write 2.5-page paper for a business law class

Candie Cardigan as a representative for CARDWARE has decided to auction her strapless giraffe print dress made of silk, satin with velvet markings. This particular dress was used in a movie filmed in S. Africa. The dress had been show cased among other famous dresses in the Silkadonia Actors Guild Museum. Cassie Cardigan was chosen to act as the auctioneer for World Wide Auction House. The bidding for the dress began at $5,000. Pearl has been looking forward to participating in the auction for this dress for over three months. Pearl raised her auction paddle and bid the initial $5,000. Jade also wanted the giraffe print dress and upped the ante to $5,500. The two battled the bidding to where it appeared that Pearl got the dress for $8,500.00, as Cassie smiled and nodded at Pearl.

Candie and Jade had been friends for years, as they had modeled together growing up as children. Candie quietly told Cassie to sell the dress to Jade. When Pearl presented $8,500 to Cassie, Cassie refused to take her money claiming that the dress was to go to Jade. Cassie further explained that Jade had allegedly had raised her paddle after Pearl’s final bid and showed five fingers meaning that she was bidding $500.00 more over the $8,500.00 bid made by Pearl. In reality, no such action by Jade had taken place.

Pearl now wants to sue for breach of contract. She has come to your office asking for your help. She wants you to request that Candie turn the dress over to her for the $8,500 that she bid. Your supervising attorney Les Agne indicates that you should investigate a cause of action for breach of contract, as well as a cause of action based on specific performance. Be aware of whom the true Plaintiff may be in this potential case and who causes of action may be brought against. Also, Les has scribbled the following notes to help you with organizing your thoughts regarding Specific Performance.
