2. Seminar in Composition- Film Essay

Prompt:

At the end of bell hooks’ essay “Eating the Other” she stresses the importance of refraining from “accept[ing] these new images uncritically.” The “new images” to which she refers are culled from an assortment of cultural images from early 1990’s (when hooks was writing) expressing some sort of desire for/or toward the Other. It is important to note that hooks is not advocating for a kneejerk disapproval and condemnation of such images; she is asking us to consider these images carefully by bringing any overlooked social context “out into the open” in an effort to better understand “our politics [and] our understanding of difference” (380).

In this essay, we will consider an array of cultural images of the Other from our own time, roughly 27 years after hook’s essay. (I will explain where these images can come from in the options below.) These images may—like those hooks looks at—express desire, but they may just as easily express distrust, love, anger, veneration, or some combination of many other complicated feelings.  You will try to answer the questions like the following: What do these images express in regard to race or the Other? What assumptions about identity are implicit in these images and that we may overlook? How do I relate to these images? What do these images exemplify about larger social, cultural or political trends?

Requirements

  • You will need to position your critical project in relation to “Eating the Other” and hook’s essay.  You may be expanding or contrasting hook’s points, but either way, you need to define your project as picking up where she left off 27 years ago.  She can also help provide a way to analyze the images you are now looking at.
  • You must look at least two images/examples (preferably no more than three). There are two different options as to where these images can come from:

Option 1: Some combination of a) Jordan Peel’s Get Out (2016), b) an artists’ work featured in the Carnegie International exhibition at the Carnegie Museum of Art, c) a relatively recent advertisement (e.g. a print ad in a magazine, sponsored instagram story, a television commercial, etc).

Option 2: Any works from the exhibition “Familiar Boundaries. Infinite Possibilities” on now at the August Wilson Center.  https://aacc-awc.org/program/fbip/  (Free! Open Wed, Thu 11am-6pm—Fri, Sat 11am-8pm—Sun 11am-5pm.)

Suggestions:

  • As I see it, you might choose to organize your essay around how the images you are looking at facilitate a deeper consideration of hooks’ essay. However, you could also choose to organize your essay around how hooks’ points help you interrogate these images. Both are valid strategies.
  • It is okay to indulge in uncertainty and openly suggest ideas without buying into them. You can also set up big questions without coming to definitive conclusions.
  • If you engage with Get Out, don’t (exclusively) talk about the movie as a whole.  Look at an image, moment, or individual scene from the film that expresses something in particular. (I would also suggest something other than what we talked about in class, to develop your own ideas.)
  • Also, regarding Get Out, you do not need to provide a detailed recap of the film. Only include details that are relevant to your essay not a full plot summary. Imagine your audience as an educated person that may not have seen the film, but knows the type.
  • For any other images or artworks you engage with, you will need to provide enough context and description for your reader to follow along.

Skills to Keep in Mind

  • Working with multiple “texts;” bringing them together in a clear and concise manner.
  • Using our own experience as evidence.
  • Assembling evidence and analysis to build up to a place where you can reflect on larger questions to suggest more relatable ideas.
  • Representing others’ ideas efficiently and honestly in your own writing.

Further Requirements

  • Your essay needs to be longer than 1400 words (and preferably no longer than 1800).
  • You will need to work with hook’s essay to some extent. The amount of engagement is up to you.
  • Save your essay as a Word file, put your name in the filename, and submit through course web.
  • Include page numbers and a title on your submission.
  • Your paper’s title should be specific enough to provide a sense of direction to your reader. In the humanities scholarship titles are often very long and descriptive because readers usually want to know what they are getting into ahead of time.
    • Bad Title: “the Other
    • Better: “Eating the Other and Get Out”
    • Still Better Title: “Eating Ourselves: Self-Representations of the Other in Jordan Peele’s Get Out
  • If you paraphrase an idea from somewhere else without attribution, you are plagiarizing. You can use footnotes or endnotes if you want. You can use any typical citation style.  I like Chicago, but MLA and APA are also fine.

  • Job satisfaction of the employees: Are the employees satisfied or is there a lot of complaining, absenteeism, and turnover?  What could the company be doing to improve job satisfaction?
  • How does the company currently communicate with their employees regarding company changes?  Do they rely on technology for their announcements?  Is this an effective method of communication?
  • Efforts made to motivate your employees: What is being done to motivate the employees? Do employees get regular pay raises?   Is there a rewards program?  Are they being recognized for their accomplishments?  Name at least three things the company could be doing to motivate their employees.

23. Marketing Approaches You Would Use To Target Potential Patients And Health Care Insurance Companies

write 400–600 words that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas.

There are very few industries that have the unique economic factor in which the majority of its revenue does not come directly from the customer, but from a third party. This unique economic factor is usually referred to as a private health care insurance company. Third party payers are the commercial, governmental, and health care maintenance insurance companies that help providers manage its patient’s accounts. With the change in focus toward the patient as consumer and increasing number of health plans that are high deductible, patients are becoming more involved in deciding where they go for their healthcare needs.

To increase referrals, Krona is beginning to develop a new marketing campaign to target a new patient mix and increase revenues, something that you discussed in your last Individual Project. You have been asked by the chief financial officer (CFO) to collaborate with the marketing director and discuss the importance of having advertising materials for both the health insurance companies and the patients who receive the health care services.

  • List 3 marketing approaches you would use to target potential patients and health care insurance companies.
  • Explain what factors you used in choosing your specific marketing strategies and the purpose of each selection..
  • How should the hospital market their commitment to patients while considering valued based programs, accountable care organizations and bundled payments?

Some marketing strategies may include the following:

    o Social Media
    o Television/Radio
    o Telemarketing
o Direct Marketing to customers and referrals

26. Healthcare Nursing

Name of the patient: Mrs. Linde

Age: 76 years

Gender: Female

Clinical Scenario

Mrs. Linde was a patient who was admitted to a surgical unit at Ocala Regional Medical Center where I worked as a nurse. While attending to her, I realized that she as well as most of the patients in my surgical unit developed a high level of acuity that could easily result into severe cardiac arrest and sudden death. Mrs. Linde was therefore transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) following her critical condition. I decided to talk to my Nurse Manager about rapid response team and how it can be helpful in reducing increasing cases of the contraction of cardiac arrest by the in-patients and unexpected admissions to the ICU. I believed this could be of great help to the hospital. Researchable and answerable is a significant step in the Evidence Based Practice (Fineout-Overholt and Johnston, 2005). Therefore, my manger suggested that I conduct more research to find solid evidence on the contribution of rapid response team in healthcare system. This prompted me to formulate a clinical question.

Research Question

I used PICOT (Patient’s population, issue of Interest, Comparison, Outcome and Time) format to formulate a research question. My PICOT question was derived from the prevailing aspects of the clinical issue at my surgical unit. These aspects include the increased level of acuity among the hospitalized patients in the surgical unit, increased number of in-patients contracting cardiac arrest, unexpected admissions into the ICU, and the intervention by the rapid response team. Since there was no team to provide rapid response to such patients and the hospital was not planning to address the issue of patient’s acuity prior to the impending crisis, element of the comparison (C component) in the PICOT was lack of rapid response team.  The outcomes or the results in the question were constant admission into the ICU and in-patients contracting cardiac arrest.  Other possible outcomes included prolonged hospitalization and deaths. My proposed picot question therefore was; “Among the adult in-patients in the surgical unit, how does the presence of a rapid response team compared with the absence of rapid response team influence the cases of cardiac arrests among the hospitalized patients and the unexpected admissions to the intensive care unit for patients hospitalized for three months? In this question, the components of PICOT include

·         Patient Population (P) – the adult in-patients

·         Issue of Interest (I) – the presence of a rapid response team

·         Comparison(C) – the absence of rapid response team

·         Outcome (O) – influence the cases of cardiac arrests among the hospitalized patients and the unexpected admissions to the intensive care unit for patients

·         Time (T) – hospitalized for three months

Literature Review

According to Stillwell et al. Evidence-Based Practice involves solving a problem in the health care delivery system by integrating the available evidences from the data of the patients and studies with the expertise of medical practitioners and values. From the above scenario, it is clear that various aspects affect personal experiences of patients throughout their stay in the hospital. Additionally, social aspects may influence and surpass curative variables without necessarily involving antiretroviral measures. However, Melnyk et al. 2009 suggests that it is important for nurses and medical practitioners to understand that the formulated question influences any attempt to find evidence to achieve a desirable outcome in patients so as to support a practical change.  It is also evident from the previous studies that Rapid Response Teams are the best weapon to curb cardiac arrests since they evaluate the patients at an early stage of the disease thus reducing mortality rate (Dacey et al. 2007). Another study also pointed that while therapeutic interventions have been successfully administered to the patients, such interventions may not be helpful for long-term health care processes (Cheng, 2011).

Abstract

Background: Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) assess patients during early phases of deterioration to reduce patient morbidity and mortality. Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the ability of earlier medical intervention by an RRT prompted by clinical instability in patients to reduce the incidence of and mortality from unexpected cardiac arrest at our hospital. Patients and Methods: A nonrandomized, population-based study before 2008 and after 2010 introduction of the Rapid Response Teams in a 300-bed private hospital. All patients were admitted to the hospital in 2008 (n = 25348) and 2010 (n = 28024). RRT (One doctor, one senior intensive care nurse and one staff nurse) attended to clinically unstable patients immediately with resuscitation drugs, fluid, and equipment. Response was activated by the bedside nurse or doctor according to predefined criteria. Main outcome measures were incidence and outcome of unexpected cardiac arrest. Results: The incidence of unexpected cardiac arrest was 17 per 1000 hospital admissions (431 cases) in 2008 (before RRT intervention) and 12.45 per 1000 admissions (349 cases) in 2010 (after intervention), with mortality being 73.23% (274 patients) and 66.15% (231 patients) respectively. After adjustment for case mix the intervention was associated with a 19% reduction in the incidence of unexpected cardiac arrest (odds ratio 0.81, 95% confidence interval 0.65-0.98). Conclusions: The RRT was able to detect preventable adverse events and reduce the mortality and incidence of unexpected cardiac arrests

Abstract

The purpose of this series is to give nurses the knowledge and skills they need to implement EBP consistently, one step at a time. Articles will appear every two months to allow you time to incorporate information as you work toward implementing EBP at your institution. Also, we’ve scheduled “Ask the Authors” call-ins every few months to provide a direct line to the experts to help you resolve questions. Details about how to participate in the next call will be published with May’s Evidence-Based Practice, Step by Step

Melnyk BM, et al. Igniting a spirit of inquiry: an essential foundation for evidence-based practice. Am J Nurs2009;109(11):49-52

Abstract

This is the third article in a series from the Arizona State University College of Nursing and Health Innovation’s Center for the Advancement of Evidence-Based Practice. Evidence-based practice (EBP) is a problem-solving approach to the delivery of health care that integrates the best evidence from studies and patient care data with clinician expertise and patient preferences and values. When delivered in a context of caring and in a supportive organizational culture, the highest quality of care and best patient outcomes can be achieved.

Cheng, H. Y. Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM): What t Long -Term Care Providers Need to Know

Abstract

Evidence-based medicine (EBM) has been exponentially disseminated to every field of medicine over past 2 decades.1–7 EBM is now a part of postgraduate competency through practice-based learning.8 However, its potential use in the long-term care setting was only recently appreciated in the literature.1,9,10 EBM may play an important role in reforming nursing homes and improving quality care.1–5,9,10 The simple search term “EBM,” limited to English and human in Medline, generated 49,304 citations, which narrowed to only 173 when “nursing homes” was added, indicating that EBP is not rare and is being implemented in long-term care. It has been a great effort that each article in this special issue presents evidence-based recommendations to long-term care providers to guide their daily practice. In contrast to the evidence-based approach to individual geriatric conditions addressed in the other articles in this issue, this article briefly introduces the basic concept of EBM; addresses some potential benefits, harms, and challenges of its practice in a long-term care setting; and promotes its appropriate use among providers of long-term care. For those who already know the EBM basics and are interested in becoming experts, several textbooks on EBM are recommended.11–13 Attending an EBM workshop, such as one run by McMaster University,14 could also be helpful. Many Internet resources are also useful, including PIER: The Physicians’ Information and Education Resource (pier.acponline.org), Clinical Evidence.

30. Planning an Organization’s Staffing Needs

Description

Overview

Write a 2–3 page memo analyzing a U.S. state of your choice as a possible location for a new manufacturing plant.

Context

The following is one way to estimate the number of sales representatives needed next year:
* If the current number of sales representatives is 300, and the expected sales increase is 15 percent, then 300*.15 = 45 additional sales representatives, or a total of 345 are needed.
* If you factor in the estimated number of current sales representatives retiring (5 reps) and the estimated voluntary turnover rate (300*.10 = 30 reps), then you can add together 45 + 5 + 30 to estimate 80 total sales representatives.
* However, if 80 sales representatives go through the training, and 5 percent do not complete it, then an additional 4 sales representatives will need to be hired (80*.05 = 4).
* The total number of new sales representatives to hire is 84 (80 = 4).

Note: There are several places where you can do your estimations, and by using different assumptions you could produce slightly different results; however, the number of sales representatives to be hired should be very close to this example. Use this approach in this assessment.

Questions to Consider

To deepen your understanding, you are encouraged to consider the questions below and discuss them with a fellow learner, a work associate, an interested friend, or a member of your professional community.

To what extent do trends affecting workforce planning (such as increasingly diverse populations, aging workers, uneven geographic growth, and changing governmental economic policies) impact an organization’s ability to forecast its workforce needs?

Preparation

To prepare for this assessment, complete the following:

* Read Chapters 1 and 2 of Arthur’s Recruiting, Interviewing, Selecting, and Orienting New Employees e-book, linked in the Resources.
* Browse Fortune.com’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” list, linked in the Resources.
* Read the scenario below.

Scenario
CapraTek, a fictitious technology company, has a long history as a leader in the design and manufacture of computer server components and continues to provide innovative solutions to industry needs. They are currently leveraging this culture of innovation to expand into emerging wireless technologies. As part of that diversification, CapraTek is developing advanced smart-home technology.

Last month, CapraTek announced that it will begin developing a wireless system providing seamless integration of newer home electronics and appliances capable of being controlled electronically. Security, heating and cooling, lights, locks, telephone, home entertainment, computers, and gaming devices all controlled through a single wireless device and a simple Web-based interface—”It’s better than a butler, it’s Alfred!” Alfred! will be produced in a new manufacturing facility currently in the planning phase. Groundbreaking on the new facility is planned within the next six months with full operations to be accomplished in three phases over the next two years. Distribution of the Alfred! device and components will be through existing distributors and retail outlets.

As part of the human resources team, you have been asked to support locating and staffing this new manufacturing facility in order to meet CapraTek’s strategic growth needs. The plan is for Phase 1 to be needed in one year and Phases 2 and 3 at one-year intervals after that. Here is some data you have uncovered when looking at similar CapraTek facilities opened within the past five years:

Phase 1 = 140 production employees.
Phase 2 = An additional 80 production employees.
Phase 3 = An additional 120 production employees.

CapraTek’s facilities management has informed you that the initial training will take place on-site, and staff from other CapraTek locations will conduct the training over approximately a six-week period. Past experiences suggest that only one in five employees interviewed will be both qualified and willing to accept the job, and 20 percent of those hired will not complete the training.

Requirements

Select a U.S. state to analyze as a possible location that will support CapraTek’s hiring projections for the new facility. (Normally, this duty is not an HR function.) Using the described CapraTek hiring scenario, write a 2–3 page memo to CapraTek’s VP of operations in which you include the following:

* Identify the number of production employees to recruit and hire. Note: This is to include the number of applicants needed to meet Phases 1, 2, and 3 as well as the number of hirings needed to meet production of the new product.
* Describe how employment and demographic trends for your selected state impact CapraTek’s future workforce planning.
* Assess elements of CapraTek’s workplace culture that could be developed for it to become an employer of choice. Include at least three elements, and support your answer from readings and other credible sources.

33. Unit 2 Discussion question

Description

The following summarizes the advice of one governor to his cabinet members as guidelines to give to their agency heads concerning the decisions they make: (1) stay within the budget, (2) avoid negative press coverage, and (3) abstain from actions that would start conflict between agencies. What if any directives or direction has the governor of your state provided to his/he cabinet secretaries that are consistent with or inconsistent with the admonitions listed above? 34. Gender Inequality

Question

Write a detailed annotated bibliography on gender inequality by consulting ten (10) scholarly sociology journals.

An annotated bibliography is an alphabetical (by author’s last name) list of references (on a specific topic) which is followed by an “annotation” or brief summary and review of each article. An annotation is typically 150-200 words in length and describes the content and focus of the article. It should outline the content relevant to your topic and indicate the quality and accuracy of the research reported. In essence, each entry should inform the reader about the topic of the article, its quality and its relevance to your topic. An annotation is NOT the abstract of an article. It is a brief summary and commentary of the information in the article.

This should be a review of articles in the field of sociology – articles in newspapers such as the New York Times are not appropriate for this assignment. Use sociology journals

 42. Accounting Mini Test

Question

Question

Patrick works for McGill’s Computer Repair, owned and operated by Frank McGill. As a computer technician, Patrick has grown accustomed to friends and family members asking for assistance with their personal computers. In an effort to increase his income, Patrick started a personal computer repair business that he operates out of his home on a part-time basis, working evenings and weekends. Because Patrick is doing this “on the side” for friends and family, he does not want to charge as much as McGill’s charges its customers. When Frank McGill assigned Patrick the task of developing the budget for his department, Patrick increased the amount budgeted for computer parts. When the budget was approved, Patrick purchased as many parts as the budget allowed, even when they were not needed. He then took the extra parts home to use in his personal business in an effort to keep his costs down and profits up. So far, no one at McGill’s has asked about the parts expense because Patrick has not allowed the actual amount spent to exceed the budgeted amount.

1. Why would Patrick’s actions be considered fraudulent?

2. What can a company do to protect against this kind of business risk?

44. Communications Essay

Question

Bus 3505 – Term Assignment #2: Self-Cultural Identity Analysis
For: N. Cotrupi
Due Date: Wed. class – March 9, 2016 (Hard copy only)
Thursday class – March 10, 2016 (Hard copy only)
Penalty for Late Submissions: 25% off for each day late.
Value: 10% of term mark

In the first part of the course, Units 1 through 4, we have been learning about Culture, Identity, Ethnicity and other important foundational concepts in intercultural communication (ICC). One of the key messages of this course is that this knowledge of ICC will enhance our understanding of others and facilitate communication and interactions with them. It is also a precept of this approach that self-understanding is an essential part of this learning journey. This assignment will ask you to develop your self-understanding, including your understanding of the extent to which you reflect your dominant culture’s and/or ethnicity’s values, and to reflect on how this knowledge this may lead to improved communications and interactions with other individuals and cultures.

The assignment will involve three steps:

1. Carry out the following 2 assessments and answer the associated questions in complete and correct sentences and using a separate section of your written report for each assessment, duly labelled. (Each report to be no more than one page per assessment.)
a. 4-Dimensional Values Inventory (DVI) Assessment and Questions  (find these documents under Unit 4 Learning Materials on BB)
b. my.blog 4.3 Assessing the Degree of Importance of Your Ethnic Identity and Bicultural Identity, found at p. 80 of the text (Note: replace “USA” with “Canada” and any discussions with classmates are optional and are not to form part of your report.)

2. Focusing on units 1 to 4 and the concepts and analytical tools and surveys provided in the text, select two additional techniques for assessing and deepening your understanding of your personal identity in relation to your dominant culture and/or ethnicity. Include the completed assessment tool (survey, questionnaire, etc.) noting the source/reference, as well as your summary report for each assessment tool. Each report should contain the following:
a. the reason/s why you chose this assessment tool,
b. your score/result and what it means (ie your analysis), and
c. the implications of the results.
(Note: replace “USA” with “Canada” and any discussions with classmates are optional and are not to be covered in your report).

Again use a discrete and labelled section of your submission for each assessment tool and report. Each assessment report should be no more than one page, in a reasonable font and double spaced.

3. Provide a final section of your report (again 1 page, in correct paragraph format, etc.) in which you consolidate the results of your assessments and analysis by summarizing your conclusions about your identity in regards to your primary culture and/or ethnicity. You will also consider how this knowledge may lead you to improved communications and interactions with other individuals and other cultures.

47. Business and Management

Question

Week 8 Final Project – Strategic Assessment Project (PowerPoint presentation plus References page)

Goal: Develop and present via PowerPoint a strategic plan for your organization, integrating various concepts, components and processes presented throughout this course.  Submit the presentation (ppt or pptx) along with a References page (.doc) that verifies sources used.

Introduction: Managers who want to improve the effectiveness of the future outcomes of their organization employ strategic planning. In a 20-25-slide PowerPoint presentation, present a strategic plan for your organization, accompanied by a References-only page as a Word.doc that contains the minimum 10 sources used in the development of the presentation. Your presentation may be a re-developed plan based on the plan your organization already uses. If you are in the military, you may elect to choose a company where you previously worked, or select a company that is not detailed in the text in this course, or in any of the materials used thus far in the course. In any case, you will need to begin by providing a brief history of the company, and then delve into the process detailed more fully below, and which draw from various elements contained in our textbook. Accompany your writing with a minimum five scholarly journal articles that support the assertions made in your strategic plan. You will also need to use at least five other sources—books, magazines, websites, and even interviews—to augment your data support for the presentation.

Your strategic plan should address [Suggested number of PPT slides in brackets]:

The Name of the Company/Firm  [1 PPT slide]

Brief History of the Company (or Organization), its Mission and Vision [2-3 PPT slides]

Organizational Analysis [5-6 PPT slides] : This section will present your identification of the firm’s strengths and weaknesses, which emanate from your value chain and functional analyses. There is a maximum of five strengths and five weaknesses and your presentation of them should be prioritized. Exhibits are effective tools to provide strong support for each strength and weakness. Please be as specific as possible and quantify your analysis where appropriate. This section will provide the first part of the foundation for your identification of strategic issues and related recommendations through your analysis of the organization’s core competencies, competitive advantages and organizational weaknesses.

Environmental Analysis [5-6 PPT slides]: This section will present your identification of the major external threats and opportunities currently facing the organization. These will be generated from your analysis of the industry and general environmental factors in light of the organization’s strengths and weaknesses. A maximum of five threats and five opportunities should be identified and should be presented in a prioritized order. Use power point exhibits to support your analysis, be specific and quantify your analysis where possible. This section will provide the second part of the foundation for your identification of a strategic issue and the formulation of related recommendations through your analysis of driving forces, key success factors and industry attractiveness.

Strategic Issues And Recommendations [6-7 PPT slides]: Identify (with support) the most important strategic issue facing your organization. It is extremely important that you clearly integrate the strategic issue with your analysis to the organization’s SWOT. There may be interrelationships between particular weaknesses and threats or missed opportunities, which should be recognized. It may be possible that 2 different weaknesses, 1 threat and 1 opportunity could be combined, due to their relatedness, to form one strategic issue. Similarly, your recommendations should attempt to capitalize and build upon strengths, competitive advantages and opportunities that you identified. The point is to clearly ground your issue and recommendations with the internal and external analyses so that the presentation is clear.

Conclusion/Summary [1-2 PPT slides]

PowerPoint Suggestions:

  • The slides need to be detailed, ready for presentation, and professional in appearance. View the example in the attachment provided (below). Note how the citations are placed directly on the slides. Be sure to provide a separate references page that links to the citations on the PowerPoint. An example of how a references page should look is not provided, since you already should be able to construct that document as you would any other references page in APA.
  • The scholarship required for this project must be cited on the slides, i.e., 10 overall sources minimum, as specified in the Introduction above.
  • The PowerPoint rubric will be used instead of the Writing Rubric for all PPTs.
  • Upload your PPT and references (.doc) in the Assignment section, just as you would any other assignment.
  • NOTE about the use of pictures—the website upload limit per PPT is 25MB.
  • Always present in “third person”
  • Do not forget to upload your separate references-only page to support the citations that appear on the PowerPoint.

Part One-Organizing

Now, it is time for all production managers to begin the organizing process.  Doing so requires that managers collect the people, resources, and capital to begin production in a way that will implement the short-term production goals and objectives set through planning. The deadline for production to begin is January 31, 2017.  Christmas product shipping must start in July of 2017.  The budget for each branch is $300,000 for the total production budget.  Currently, the production staff includes a total of 124 employees per day shift and 91 at night per plant for a total of 215 employees. Most tasks are covered in both shifts. Current production and shipping personnel per task include:

Positions # of Day Shift Workers # of Night Shift Workers
10 Machine Maintenance 5
75 Electronics Specialists 3

To complete the Moon Mission to Jupiter’s Europa 1 project, it is projected that additional personnel are needed:  Two 3D printer operators for the day shift and two for the night shift.  Additionally, instead of having an on-call position for production IT, a full-time night position is needed.

The design and engineering department has provided the product specifications including materials, sizes, and 3D printers and one person per shift to produce the product.  Trained personnel are needed for operating the 3D printers.   The cost of one complete Moon Mission to Jupiter’s Europa 1 product is set at $7.56, which includes packaging. The 3D printers will produce the completely assembled piece including electronics and packaging in 7.36 minutes and will cost $6100 per printer.  Trained personnel are needed to operate the printers.

Required Elements for Part One:

  • Assuming the role of Itza Yu, explain the role of a manager in the organizing phase of the POLC and identify and discuss five major issues that Itza Yu must address in organizing the production floor for both existing production and the new project.
  • One of the areas of discussion that must be included in the organizing phase is that of aligning people to the task of production.  Create an organizational chart that shows how Yu would organize the people and jobs on the production floor.  Discuss why and how the organizational chart was created.  This organizational chart will be used as the template for the other branches within the organization, so be sure the structure of the production floor aligns with the organization of the company.
  • Once you have created the chart, identify the decision making authority for those individuals on the chart.  Explain why the structure was chosen and how it best serves the decision making flow for the production floor and the company as a whole.

Part Two-Leading Motivation

During the course of production older line staff and machine workers began to see the speed and accuracy for which the 3D printers made its product.  An obvious concern began to surface among the workers.  The workers began to ask, “Will I still have a job next year?”   Morale of plant workers began to suffer.  Itza Yu knows that this concern must be addressed and morale needs to be improved.  As the manager, Yu know that the business must innovate to keep growing.  How can Yu improve morale?

Required Element for Part Two:

  • Acting as Jean Barnhart, what advice should she give to Yu?  In discussing the advice, first identify the reasons for the morale problem and how they affect motivation.  Be sure to address change and the worker’s reaction to implementing change.
  • Discuss the actual ideas and the specific ways Yu should take to motivate his existing employees that will build morale and keep production levels on track for the current contracts and the new project.

Part Three-Control:

3A)

The following chart displays the results of the first year’s production of MMTJE1.  It was created from data supplied by all the company production department managed by Keith as a means of controlling production output.  It is used by the VP in his evaluation of areas of improvement, change, or success to processes used by the production department in the production of MMTJE1.  The chart describes the standard goal (identified as standard) set by the department and the result each branch obtained.  A comparison of the standard to the results allows the reader to form conclusions about the success or failure of the production department to meet the goals envisioned by the company. It also allows the reader to recognize patterns from the data from which conclusions can be drawn as to the relationship between elements (e.g. cost expended vs time expended; those who spent more time had a higher cost).

Specifications Standard Toledo Dayton White Plains Huntsville Juarez
Cost 7.56 7.67 7.87 7.45 7.52 8.01
Time 7.36 7.32 7.46 7.31 7.32 7.59

Total Number of Pieces Produced  per year 400,000 500,000 500,000 650,000 700,000 450,000
  • Compare the standard specifications data set with the results from each of the results for the five branches.
  • Interpret the results for the new product production chart above. Detail the areas that need improvement as well as those positive conclusions the data suggests.
  • Define what “corrective action” means to the manager in the control function of the POLC.
  • Do you suggest Keith take, if any, corrective action for this report?

3B):

The next meeting of the long term planning team for Galaxy Toys is scheduled for next week. All the VP’s will be there and a report must be given by all as to the viability of the “Moon Mission Jupiter’s Europa 1” toy roll out and the success or failure of the long term goals and objectives.

Keith reviewed his meeting notes with his branch managers when the production results came out. The managers seemed to all talk at once.  Most all the managers seem to feel that the project was well worth the effort.  It appears that many managers felt that training on the 3D printer in terms of repair and maintenance was the biggest problem.  Mexico’s manager, Hernando Gonzalez, said that they lost their trained personnel to a software company and had difficulties finding replacements.  The company who supplied the 3D printers provided initial training but follow up training thereafter proved a problem when personnel turnover increased.  Gonzalez explained that there is a serious shortage of skilled IT personnel in Juarez.  Consequently, finding qualified workers and keeping people without paying more than budget is a major problem.  As a result, both the production and the IT departments are losing money.  Getting a full time, IT night worker is impossible without a serious budget increase.

Prepare a report for Keith to present to the planning team. The following points must be addressed in the report:

  • Using the conclusions drawn from the chart in part two as well as Keith’s notes from the meeting (noted above) with the branch managers on the production results, identify at least three conclusions that have potential concern for the long-term future of the project and or company.
  • Explain why and how each of the factors chosen would affect the future long-term strategic planning. Examine the relationship between the control process and long term planning as part of the explanation
  • Offer recommendations for solutions that might be introduced along with the issues to the planning committee to address the implications of the factors chosen.

57. General Assignment

Instruction

Discussion #1: Leadership There have been many definitions of leadership offered over the years, and much research to try and determine what makes a good leader. A definition provided by Northouse (2013, p. 5) is as good as any: “Leadership is a process whereby an individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal. Broadly speaking, there are two main groups of theories. One holds that leaders are born; that there are certain characteristics some people have that make them leaders. This is called the Traits Approach. Unfortunately, there is little agreement on what these traits and some sources suggest dozens, but intelligence, self-confidence, determination, integrity and sociability seem to lead the way. The second camp believes that people can learn to be leaders by working on certain skills — the Skills Approach. These skills can be broken down into three areas: conceptual skills; technical skills; and human skills. Check out the following short clips of some of the greatest leadership speeches in modern history as supplemental sources for these discussions. Select at least two, no more than three of the four topics for response. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxa4HDgfWFs (Kennedy, 4 min) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7vtWB4owdE (Animal House, 3 min) Question: Are leaders born or can individuals learn to be leaders? Major Anxiety; Where have all the leaders gone? According to the economist, John Kenneth Galbraith, “All of the great leaders have had one characteristic in common: it was the willingness to confront unequivocally the major anxiety of their people in their time. This, and not much else, is the essence of leadership.” Another, more cynical source, defines a leader as someone who finds a parade and then runs to get in front (author unknown). Finally, here’s another: “Leadership is a gift. It is given by those who follow” (Gen. Mark Welsh, Chief of Staff, USAF). There is general agreement that America is facing a number of “anxieties” (which I will not list). The major political parties do not seem to be able to reach a consensus in addressing these anxieties. Using the readings as references (your response may be your opinion, but if you use concepts or material from one of the authors, give them proper credit, otherwise it’s plagiarism), respond to this question and the topics below. Question: Do you agree or disagree with Galbraith? What is the “major anxiety” in the U.S. at this time? Main Topic 1.2~Trait or Process The readings use terms like trait and process in discussing leadership. What is the difference? (Cite your source) Which do you believe is more predominate in leaders? Main Topic 1.3~ Where have the leaders gone? In years past we had Washington, Adams, Franklin, Jefferson, Lincoln, Roosevelt, King, et al. Are there any leaders of their dimension out there today? If so, who are they? Are they leaders because of their traits, skills, style, or situation? Main Topic 1.4~Leaders & Managers Is leadership and management the same thing? Are managers leaders by default?

Show all of your calculations and processes. Describe your answer for each question in complete sentences, whenever it is necessary.

  1. Which inputs are fixed and which are variable in the production function of William’s pizza shop? Over what ranges do there appear to be increasing, constant, and/or diminishing returns to the number of workers employed?
  2. What number of workers appears to be most efficient in terms of pizza product per worker?
  3. What number of workers appears to minimize the marginal cost of pizza production assuming that each pizza worker is paid $500 per week?
  4. Why would marginal productivity decline when you hire more workers in the short run after a certain level?
  5. How would expanding the business affect the economies of scale? When would you have constant returns to scale or diseconomies of scale? Describe your answer.

Problem 2:

The Paradise Shoes Company has estimated its weekly TVC function from data collected over the past several months, as TVC = 3450 + 20Q + 0.008Q2 where TVC represents the total variable cost and Q represents pairs of shoes produced per week. And its demand equation is Q = 4100 – 25P. The company is currently producing 1,000 pairs of shoes weekly and is considering expanding its output to 1,200 pairs of shoes weekly. To do this, it will have to lease another shoe-making machine ($2,000 per week fixed payment until the lease period ends).

Show all of your calculations and processes. Describe your answer for each item below in complete sentences, whenever it is necessary.

  1. Describe and derive an expression for the marginal cost (MC) curve.
  2. Describe and estimate the incremental costs of the extra 200 pairs per week (from 1,000 pairs to 1,200 pairs of shoes).
  3. What are the profit-maximizing price and output levels for Paradise Shoes? Describe and calculate the profit-maximizing price and output.
  4. Discuss whether or not Paradise Shoes should expand its output further beyond 1,200 pairs per week. State all assumptions and qualifications that underlie your recommendation.

61. Final paper

For this assignment, I want you to write about psychological phenomena you have observed in everyday life.  Identify content from the class that you have “seen in action,” and describe the relevant circumstances (I am the only one who will ever see your paper, but be sure to protect confidentiality by changing names/dates if necessary and applicable.  Of course, you may also write about complete strangers, or about your own life if you wish).

If you have one or two particular concepts/findings/effects that deeply interest you, you may write about and elaborate on those exclusively.  If you’d like to discuss a wider range of phenomena in reduced detail, that would be fine as well (e.g., one per paragraph).  The balance between breadth and depth is up to you.  If you choose to write about many phenomena, your paper may not “flow” like a typical essay, and that is perfectly fine for this assignment.  Feel free to editorialize and speculate, and to include any thoughts/reflections relevant to psychology in the real world.  Anything in the textbook/supplementary materials is eligible for discussion.

FORMAT:

Your paper should include the following components, in the order specified:

Your name

Body of text

References (if you decide to include sources—this assignment does not require them)

The body of text should be at least three full pages (but no more than 5 pages) in length.  Follow APA format in the following respects only:

  1. Double-spaced
  2. 1-inch margins
  3. Left-aligned
  4. Times New Roman 12-point font
  5. One-half inch paragraph indentation
  6. References in APA format, at the end (if included)

Do not include a title page, running head, or abstract.  Do not plagiarize, and do not make excessive use of quotations.

The paper is worth 15 points—11 for content and 4 for writing quality (see rubric below).

65. INFA 660- The Law, Regulation, and Ethics of IA

Policy Drafting

Emerging technologies present new opportunities and risks to our society. For example, the Internet of Things (IoT) permits innumerable devices to connect and share data. This permits operations to be remotely monitored and may jeopardize the privacy of individuals.  Also, artificial Intelligence (AI) is a technology where intelligent machines and decision algorithms have been developed and refined with little public discussion, debate and oversight.  Another emerging technology is the autonomous vehicle that relieves human drivers’ countless decisions, but also creates dependencies on inadequately vetted automatic actions.  These technologies, and possibly more, provide significant opportunities for modernization while illuminating real ethical and legal challenges.  Each raise security concerns highlighting the need for policy guidance.

The paper is designed to explore the current state and direction of an emerging technology, to identify key security, legal and ethical issues, and to articulate and explain key principles that must be incorporated in public policy to guide and protect our use of the technology.  The exploration of policy principles should also consider who could/should issue such needed policy.

The paper should contain:

-9-12 Pages, Double-spaced, (DO not exceed 12 pages)

-Include – Title Page, Table of Contents and Reference List (No Abstract is needed)

-A description of the technology and its direction

-A presentation of the security, legal and ethical issues involved with the technology as well as the benefits it offers

-An exploration of what policy is needed, who is the best source for such policy (government, industry, ?), high-level guidance/direction for what the policy should contain – to include identification of necessary basic principles The author determines the structure of the paper.

-A Table of Contents and section headings should improve the readability of the paper.

-An expectation is that about a third of the paper will address the technology, its benefits and issues, and at least a third will present policy recommendations.

It is important to clearly identify the technology.  You may choose to address the Internet of Things (IoT), selecting a limited focus (home, medicine, etc.).  You may choose to explore autonomous or self-driving vehicles.  You may choose some facet of artificial intelligence or the use of algorithmic decision-making. You may choose to address robots.  It is strongly recommended that students provide a one paragraph description of their paper focus.

Students are expected to write at the graduate (professional) level and to comply with the format requirements of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th Edition. Careful attention should be given to spelling, punctuation, source citations, references, and the presentation of tables and figures.

It is expected that all course work will be presented on time and error free. Be sure to include the certification statement:

“This paper or presentation is my own work. Any assistance I received in its preparation is acknowledged within the paper or presentation, in accordance with academic practice. If I used data, ideas, words, diagrams, pictures, or other information from any source, I have cited the sources fully and completely in footnotes and bibliography entries. 66. Book Critique

Book critique should answer the following questions/statements in response to Beverly Tatum’s book, Why Are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria? Your responses must be in paragraph form. 1. What is the author’s major thesis? 2. Do you feel that the author is effective in support of his thesis? Why or Why not? 3. Which theoretical perspective in sociology is best reflected in the book? 4. Are there any biases in the book? 5. Is there anything that you disagreed with? Why or Why not? 6. Instruction

*Do you feel the author is effect in support of his thesis? Here, you need to explain whether or not you believed the author effectively supported his thesis. Effectively buttress your position with a supporting quote or two. Thoroughly explain yourself in this paragraph. *Which theoretical perspective is best reflected? Here, you state, based on the examples provided on the format sheet, which sociological perspective you believe the author is speaking from. Use the definitions provided of each perspective and explain yourself thoroughly with examples. It is possible to assert that the author is speaking from more than one perspective. This is okay. Just support your position(s) with information from the text. *Are there any biases? What I mean by “bias” is does the author make an assertion (e.g., the criminal justice system is racist) without presenting data or research to back up the claim. If according to the definition of “bias” you believe the author is biased, use quotes to support this position with a thorough explanation. If you believe the author is not biased, give some examples of information that he presents that is non-biased. Remember my definition of “bias.” *Is there anything you disagreed with? Here, state if you disagreed with anything. Give succinct examples and thoroughly explain yourself. If you agreed with everything, provide several examples of information/data that you agreed with. *Your comments, opinion, etc. Here, you give your thorough assessment of the book, and I do mean thorough. ******I will strictly follow the above guidelines/format in grading your paper. Remember to cite at least one idea when answering each question. Attention: 1. Format: Double-spaced pages in Times New Roman 12-points font with 1-inch margins. Put your name at the left top corner and page number at the right top corner. No cover page is needed. NO extra space between title and the main text. Acceptable formats should be submitted in Microsoft Words, Mac Pages, or Google Open Word Document. 2. Plagiarized assignment may receive zero on the assignment. The assignment will be examined by Blackboard Safe Assign function for plagiarism. DO NOT QUOTE content from the book but paraphrase it with citations. 3. It is highly recommended that you may incorporate some major sociological theoretical perspectives in your book critique. 4. Sample book critique attached in the syllabus is for a different book (Colorblind: the rise of post-racial politics and the retreat from racial equity). It is NOT the assigned book so the attached book critique is just an example for your references.

84. Assignment Problem Solving

Assignment 2:  Problem Solving
Due Week 9 and worth 150 points

When faced  with a problem, what do you do to solve it? This assignment asks you to  apply a six-step to problem solving process to a specific problem  scenario. You will write a paper that presents a synthesis of your ideas  about solving the problem using this systematic approach. As Voltaire  said, “No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thinking.”

Choose one  (1) of the problem scenarios as a topic choice for your paper (Note:  Your professor must approve your topic choice before you begin work on  the assignment.)

Scenario  1: You have worked at your company for eleven (11) years. You have  returned to college to earn a Bachelor’s degree in order to increase  your chances for a promotion. You are nearly finished with your degree,  when a supervisor’s position in a competing company becomes available in  another state. The start date is in two (2) weeks, during your final  exam period for your courses. The position offers a $15,000 per year  salary increase, a car allowance, and relocation expenses. Your former  supervisor works for the company and is recommending you for the  position based on your outstanding job performance; if you want the job,  it’s yours. All of the other supervisors at this level in the company  have Master’s degrees, so you know that you would be expected to earn  your Bachelor’s degree and continue on to a Master’s degree. Your  present company offers tuition reimbursement, but the new company does  not.

Scenario  2: Your child comes home from school with an assignment sheet for a  school project. He / she is very excited about the project and begins  work immediately, doing research on the Internet and gathering  materials. You read over the assignment sheet and notice that your child  is not including all of the required items in the project, and you have  some ideas for how to improve the quality of the presentation. You  recently read an article in a parenting magazine about the importance of  a child developing responsibility for his/ her own learning. You recall  the many ways in which your parents took over your school projects.  You, on the other hand, want to encourage your child’s confidence in his  / her ability to complete a project independently. The next day, you  are at the grocery store when you see a parent of a student in your  child’s class. That parent has spent over $30 in supplies for the  science project and is taking a day off of work to put the pieces of the  project together.

Scenario  3: You have two jobs—one during the week from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, and  one on Saturday from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm. You are taking two classes—one  that meets from 6:00 to 10:00 pm, and one class online. You have two  kids—one who plays soccer, and one who is in band. You have two elderly  parents who no longer drive. You have two siblings—one who lives two (2)  miles away, and one who lives in another state. You have two (2) papers  due in your classes the same week that one (1) of your children has a  soccer tournament, and the other child has a band concert. You are  coaching the soccer team, and you are in charge of fundraising for the  band. You have a goal to complete your degree in two (2) years. Your  doctor tells you that your blood pressure, your cholesterol, and your  weight are too high and recommends several medications that cost you  nearly $200 per month after your insurance co-pay.

Scenario  4: You are a sales representative for a company that encourages staff to  log time in the field and away from the office. You are expected to  begin and end your day at the office. You notice that each day when you  arrive and return another co-worker is already there, and you wonder  whether this person spends most of his / her time at the office. At your  weekly sales meeting, you are informed of your co-workers’ outstanding  sales performance. You suspect that this co-worker is spending more time  flattering the boss instead of working leads in the field, and as a  result is getting the best client referrals. Your own sales numbers have  steadily decreased since this other sales representative was hired.

Scenario 5: Professor’s Choice – problem scenario presented by your professor.

Scenario 6: Student’s Choice – Problem scenario presented by you.

Review the  six-step problem solving process outlined in the webtext, based on the  article “The Problem Solving Process” located at http://www.gdrc.org/decision/problem-solve.html:

  • Step One: Define the problem
  • Step Two: Analyze the problem
  • Step Three: Generate options
  • Step Four: Evaluate options
  • Step Five: Make your decision
  • Step Six: Implement and reflect

Write a four to five (4-5) page paper in which you:
1. Define the problem in the scenario that you have chosen.
2. Analyze the problem in the scenario.
3. Generate options for solving the problem in the scenario.
4. Evaluate the options for solving the problem.
5. Decide on the best option for solving the problem.
6. Explain how you will implement the decision made and reflect on whether this option was the most effective.

The paper should follow guidelines for clear and organized writing:

  • Include an introductory paragraph and concluding paragraph.
  • Address main ideas in body paragraphs with a topic sentence and supporting sentences.
  • Adhere to standard rules of English grammar, punctuation, mechanics, and spelling.

87. Business

Assignment 3: Case Study—Merger and Acquisition

Throughout this course, you will review scenarios involving Company A, which has been acquired by Company B. Company A was founded in 1956 in Mobile, Alabama. The average age of its workforce is 57 and it is comprised of 40% Caucasian and 85% male. Company B was founded in 1997 in San Francisco, California. The average age of its workforce is 35 and it is comprised of 45% Caucasian and 50% male.

These two companies have been staunch competitors in the marketplace for several years and the employees of Company A are resentful of integrating with their former rival. There are many strategic and ethical challenges involved in this acquisition. A few of the goals of the acquisition project are listed below:

  • Managing the Communication and Information Sharing:
    • The company wants to keep employees informed of how the acquisition will impact them.
    • The company wants to be sure that they provide enough information to satisfy the employees, but not provide so much that the employees feel overwhelmed.
    • The company wants to be sure that the timing of the communication matches their execution of the changes within the two organizations.

  • Managing the Consolidation and Changes:
    • There is no doubt that there will be layoffs as a result of the acquisition. The company wants to do what is best for the acquisition in a way that inflicts the least amount of harm to the existing employees.
    • The company wants to make the decisions about who to layoff in the fairest way possible.
    • The company wants to try and limit exposure to potential discrimination (age and gender) stemming from the layoffs.

  • Managing the Relocations of Some the Employees:
    • Another impact of acquisitions is that employees may be asked to relocate in order to maintain employment in the newly formed organization.
    • The company wants to manage the expenses and potential disruption with the relocations.
    • The company wants to assess relocations verses hiring new employees locally.

Let us look at the role and responsibilities of HR managers regarding managing the company’s goals related to the recent acquisition.

Instructions:

You have a wide variety of employees encompassing different ages, genders, and ethnic backgrounds represented in these two companies. As a Strategic HR Director, your goal is to create a workforce that will effectively move the newly formed company forward.

Now, address the following issues:

  • Identify all of the information you would need to effectively manage the three goals above.
  • Identify the challenges and potential issues related to implementing the three goals above.
  • Develop recommendations for strategies to address these challenges and help the newly formed company meet its goals.

Write a five-to-seven-page report in Word format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.

Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M1_A3.doc. For example, if your name is John Smith, your document will be named SmithJ_M1_A3.doc.

By the due date assigned, deliver your assignment to the Submissions Area.

88. Ethical Dilemmas In Counseling

Ethical Dilemmas in Counseling

Human service administrators ought to be extra careful especially in the delivery of services to their customers. In most of the situations, the professionals experience dilemmas which are tied between their ethical, professional and legal aspects, not knowing the best approach and lane to use. If no appropriate decision is made in this process, many service providers are sued by their clients. This is usually the case when offering counselling services. Counselors are pinned down with professional, ethical, legal and social guidelines which should always be obeyed in the provision of services. Despite, they are in return required to offer satisfactory results in all situations to their clients.

In most cases, service providers in counselling agencies have been sued due to the incompetence to deal with such situation as in the case of inappropriate sexual behaviors, violation of the confidentiality of the clients, improper treatment as well as the wrong diagnosis (American Counseling Association, 2005). In the article documented by the American Psychologists Association, it is indicated that counsellors do not participate in forms of sexual aggravation, inappropriate verbal behaviors, violation of confidentiality as well as in the non-verbal unwelcome cues (Hülsheger, Alberts, Feinholdt, & Lang, 2013).

If what documented by Hulsheger et al., (2013) is what to go with, it follows that the counsellors are not expected to have more than one type of relationship with their clients, which in most cases is usually impossible. The description of relationship deters service professionals from having any form of relationship with the client’s friends, close relatives and significant others.

The other challenge is directly attributed to the informed consent and privacy (Fitting, 1986). In this context, counsellors are only required to assemble, collect and document only that information which is important. Collection of unnecessary information is deemed a violation of the client’s privacy rights. As the APA describes, the counsellor can only do this if he/she has received the client’s informed consent, which is provided in writing. As part of the recommendations and precautions to service providers, the APA expects that all counsellors should only collect personal information if related to the therapy under treatment (Prilleltensky, I., Dokecki, Frieden, & Wang, 2007). Most of the time, this ethical guideline become a barrier to effective administration of the counseling program.

Through the delivery of services related to counseling customers directly, the American Counseling Association advocates for the identification of these possible ethical dilemmas while at the same time monitoring on ethical sensitivity (American Counseling Association, 2005). Without this ability, it has always been difficult to resolve such situations whenever they arise. In this context, it demonstrates that a service provider that does not observe ethical sensitivity is prone to making unethical decisions. Ethical sensitivity primarily involves the analysis of a personal social and economic background and how they affect the process of making decisions and acquisition of ethical values (Prilleltensky, Dokecki, Frieden, & Wang, 2007). This process is important because it enables counsellors to identify and examine the possible ethical dilemmas of their decisions in addition to identifying what is appropriate.

Finally, in the dealing of ethical dilemmas in the provision of counselling to clients, counsellors should always prioritize the process of debating on the availability of solutions to the scenario (Pope, & Vetter, 1992). This means that counsellors should be able to weigh between the available options which are more relevant to the issues under consideration. As Sadeghi, Fischer & House (2003) argues, the deliberation process in attempts to solve these ethical dilemmas should involve the consideration of the legal aspects at stake. For example, whether the State’s law allows the counsellor to break the confidentiality law described by the American Counseling Association or whether the client’s well-being and general life are at risk. If any of these situations stands, then the law can be bent to allow the counsellor to disclose the client’s personal information.

Generally, as described in the context above, the process of providing direct counselling services to clients is usually full of many dilemmas which should be dealt with cautiously, failure to which one can easily be sued. Most of the potential dilemmas are inappropriate sexual behavior, improper treatment and violation of confidentiality as described by the ACA. Mostly, ethical and legal aspects inclined in the profession are usually the guidelines for such operations. Even though these boundaries of the relationship between the parties exist, the counsellors are required to produce optimum results in the end. To curb these issues, service providers should always ensure that they obtain the client’s Informed Consent and privacy when collecting necessary information. Additionally, they are advised to identify possible dilemmas likely to occur and make decisions based on the available options. In their general operations, they should always ensure that they rely on their professional standards, advice from supervisors and observe regulations. Ethical principles to the problem should also be observed before arriving at any final decision. In specific perspectives, counsellors should always focus on respecting autonomy, fidelity, justice, beneficence and non-harm to their clients often when providing counseling.
